Baldwin Hills is a neighborhood in South L.A. named after Elias Jackson Baldwin, a 19th century land development pioneer. The Baldwin Hills Estates Development began in early 1950’s, its mid-century modern style homes with pools and winding streets, is its signature. Just about all the street names begin with the Spanish word “Don” meaning “Sir” in English.
